Trump Buys Netflix

 

Donald Trump , the current US President, bought at least $1m worth of bonds in Netflix and Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), according to a financial disclosure form, days after he said would “be involved” in a proposed merger between the two companies.

A disclosure form released by the White House on Friday indicated that Trump made two Netflix purchases and two WBD purchases, each amounting to at least $502,000, the Guardian reported.

Trump’s purchase of Netflix and other corporate bonds are another “sliver” of potential conflicts, in addition to concerns about the president’s cryptocurrency involvements, said Richard Painter, former chief ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush and a University of Minnesota Law professor, in a phone interview with CNN.

Interestingly, Trump said in December he will have a say in whether Netflix can proceed with its proposed $83 billion acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery, which faces a rival bid from Paramount Skydance. Any deal to acquire Warner Bros will need regulatory approval.
